LIBERTY MUSIC BOOSTER ASSOCIATION
Powell, Ohio

WHAT is the LMBA?

The Liberty Music Booster Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt [501(c)(3)] organization that supports instrumental and vocal music among the students of Olentangy Liberty High School, Liberty Middle School, and Hyatts Middle School.

The LMBA provides financial and logistical support for school music programs including band (concert band, marching band, color guard, drum line), choir and orchestra.

Examples include funding for color guard uniforms, choir robes, band trucks, equipment, instructors, and accompanists as recommended by the music directors.

The LMBA can also provide limited financial assistance to students for whom participation in school music activities would pose a hardship.

Membership

As the parent of a music student, you are automatically a member of the LMBA.  There are no fees or dues!

Volunteering

Volunteers are the heart of our organization.  From working in the concession stand, to being a chaperone – by contributing your time and effort, you enrich our music programs and the lives of our talented and enthusiastic children.  It is also a wonderful way to stay involved in their activities and to meet new friends!

Booster Meetings

LMBA meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Liberty High School choir room.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

GOALS

During the school year, the LMBA hopes to improve operations in several areas.

Participation

Increase involvement and support for all of the Liberty High School music programs – band, choir, and orchestra.

Help attract and retain students in the school music programs, including encouraging eighth graders to continue their musical education as they make the transition to high school.

Likewise, broaden the base of parents who are involved in supporting the students and their music programs.

Middle Schools

Increase involvement with the Liberty Middle School music programs.

Assist the directors at the new Hyatts Middle School in successfully launching their music programs.

Communication

Facilitate better sharing of information between all members of the organization and the community at large, including establishing a new email list and LMBA web site.

Fund raising

Several fund raising activities are conducted throughout the year to support the music programs.  We are continually looking for ways to expand these efforts, so we can increase the support we provide the music programs and our kids!

SCRIP

LBMA now offers individual account fundraising through a SCRIP program.  Families can learn about the LMBA SCRIP program and register with these two downloads: Intro to SCRIP and What is SCRIP.

Concession Sales

LMBA parents sell food, drinks, and team spirit items at sporting events – most notably, LHS home football games.  This is a great, easy way to get involved – more volunteers are always welcome!

Fall & Spring Fund Drives

Students sell goods such as holiday wreaths & fresh fruit.  They also canvas neighborhoods in the district seeking cash donations.

Corporate Sponsorship

Area businesses contribute to our success by donating or discounting items for concession sales, by advertising on band trucks and in music program fliers, and by making cash donations.  (Donations to the LMBA are tax-deductible!)

Some businesses will also “match” any cash or time donated to the LMBA by their employees.

How could your workplace help?
